William Jones Letter 16 Apr 1855 - page 2

Letter from William Jones, writing from Richmond, Virginia, to his niece, Mary Jane Jones, of Martins Ferry, Ohio. He reminisces about previous stays at the Exchange Hotel (presumably from his time as a member of the Virginia House of Delegates) and describes the design of the George Washington Equestrian Monument at Capitol Square, Richmond, then under construction. Mention is also made of the family having recently received vaccinations and Elizabeth (Lizzie) recovering from disease (likely smallpox).
