Notes about Francis Fitzgerald Jones, b. 9 Nov 1807:

He was a planter and slave owner living at The Oaks. It sat on the Nottoway River near Rawlings in Nottoway Co.,VA. It is three miles off US1 near the Concord Presbyterian Church. In 1850, the property was valued at $8,651; in 1860 it was valued at $3,000 personal and $14,000 real property, not including his wife's property of $7,000 real and $9,000 personal; the children had $2,000 personal property.

Jones moved to Brunswick County in 1836 and lived at The Oaks northeast of Rawlings on present-day Highway 610. For several years Francis operated a male school at The Oaks, offering instruction in the usual English and classical curriculum, mainly for his own children. Concord Presbyterian Church is on land given by Francis Jones.

MTJ: Present-day highway 610 is Baskerville Mill Road. Taking the description that it was located off Baskerville Mill Road and sat on the Nottoway River (above), I estimated its location as being at the listed coordinates. It could also have been on the east side of Baskerville Mill Road.
