Father |
Joseph Pearson, b. 1789, England , d. 16 Apr 1866, probably Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (Age 77 years) |
Mother |
Mary Miller, b. 16 Aug 1808, Pennsylvania , d. 8 Mar 1878, Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania (Age 69 years) |
Married |
4 Jul 1823 |
Pittsburgh, Allegheny County, Pennsylvania [3] |
- According to records available at the Carnegie Library in Pittsburgh, I found a marriage of Joseph Pearson & Mary Miller listed on microfilm of an index card as occuring 4 Jul 1823 and appearing in the Pittsburgh Gazette of 11 Jul 1823. However, this particular day's edition of the Pittsburgh Gazette was not available on microfilm. The marriage is also apparently cited in Cramer's Magazine Almanac of 1824 on page 71 The call number is R317.3C86, but as part of special collections, was not available for viewing. The librarian informed me that the magazine probably listed no more information than the date, and that it generally included events only in Pittsburgh. Thus, I have assumed the marriage was in Pittsburgh.

Notes |
- 1860 census: household also has Robert Neilie, age 13, b. PA.
1850 census shows a Catherine Pearson (age 21) born in Ireland also in household. Perhaps this is Joseph's niece?
1840 census indicates:
male born 1790-1800 (Joseph)
female born 1800-1810 (Mary)
female born 1820-1825
male born 1825-1830 (Joseph)
male born 1825-1830 (George)
male born 1830-1835 (William)
male born 1835-1840 (Alfred)
male born 1835-1840
I found the following deed in the Allegheny County Index of Grantees:
Joseph Pearson, Book 34, page 160 (1827)
Joseph Pearson, Book 42, page 457 (1832) [this shows up in the 1879 deed Book 395, page 688, located in Pittsburgh Ward 3, the north side of Diamond Alley east of Wood Street and south of Fifth. This property shows on the 1872 Hopkins Atlas of Pittsburgh, Plate 19 as owned by "Mrs. Pearson."] Son Alfred was probably born here and my guess is the children after him were too.
Joseph Pearson, Book 46, page 119 (1834)
Joseph Pearson, Book 82, page 200 (1848)
Joseph Pearson, Book 52, page 157 (1836) (was this in the grantor index?) I need to look at the deeds in more depth as there was more than I had time to look at. [4, 5, 6]
